GO-KART History
Le KARTING
///
Invented by the Americans in the 1950s, Karting quickly became a great success in Europe and today is a fully-fledged motorsport discipline.

Karting is a great school of life for young people and the best way to learn about driving and racing. The best route for the future car Champions, Karting is also practiced by enthusiasts who devote all their energy to it. The CIK-FIA Championships are open to drivers from the age of 12, with no upper age limit.
///
Although the kart is basically a machine of simple design, the high standard of Competition makes it a very high level sport where ultra-competent professional teams confront each other.
///
The spectacle provided by Karting events has an intensity rarely seen in motorsport. The closeness of the track, a succession of races throughout the weekend, constant suspense and the beauty of the struggle for victory make it an exciting discipline to experience for both specialists and the general public.

In addition, karting is particularly suitable for live TV viewing and sharing on social networks.
There are several ways to participate in MotorRacing.

Basic theory
If you are dreaming of racing or just driving on the limit, but do not know how to start - Karting is the best opportunity for all ages to start with.
All the Formula 1 drivers started their careers competing in Kart Racing.
Young Racing Drivers
Some start at the age of 4 like Michael Schumacher, Alonso or Verstappen.
But generally it is best to start at about 8.

Young drivers learn and race on special racing karts - simpler, smaller and less powerful, supervised and trained by licensed instructors.

There are classes for all age groups:

Bambinos for age 6-8;
Cadets for age 8-13;
Mikro/Mini/Juniors for age 10-17;
Seniors for 16+;
Gearbox for 15+.
Adult Drivers
There is a range of different classes and various competitions for adult drivers including "Masters" category for over 35 yo.

Most of the classes equipped with 125cc engine and direct drive. It is perfectly simple and effective - no gears, just 2 pedals and a steering wheel.
Despite small engine size it can produce up to 65 bhp at screaming 16.000 rpm for as little as 90 kg of the weight of the kart.

Main adults classes are:

Rotax Max, 28 bhp, ideal to start with
Rotax DD2, 32 bhp, 2 gears
X-30, 30 bhp
EasyKart, 28 bhp
4-stroke karts

Other RACING CATEGORIES
Karting is least expensive of all MotorSport and at the same time most effective in developing driving, racing and car setup skills.
But for a bigger cars (and bigger cockpits) enthusiasts - other open wheels and GT disciplines are available to drive individually and for events.
Racing tracks are usually located in the middle of nowhere, but the UK being a MotorSport home country provides variety of racing tracks everywhere, for sure there would be at least 3 of them within the 2 hours driving distance.
